Kiva Loan to Ganthan Shg Group from India

Project budget: $.00

Ten percent of Olive B sales in 2014 was used to supplement a portion of Ganthan Shg Group’s $2,450 loan which helped a member, Gandunlu, to buy more items for the tea stall, such as flour, milk powder, tea leaves and sugar.

Gandunlu has a family (husband and three daughters) and opened a tea stall to supplement their meager income and improve the family’s living condition. Her husband is a cultivator, and it was very challenging for Gandunlu and her husband to run the family and to send the children to school.

The tea stall is open every morning and evening, and it serves as a common place to gather and entertain for the young and old.

The tea business has done well thanks to her hard work and continous efforts. In addition to tea, customers may purchase snacks and food such as chips, puri and pakoras. Gandunlu hopes that one day she will be able to send her daughters to a good school.

Gandunlu used her loan to run the tea stall, which helped with family expenses and education fees for the children.  She was able to repay her loan and is looking forward to potentially securing a larger loan amount in her next loan cycle.
